The Switch Witch is a Good Witch

Halloween is quickly approaching and with that there’s an over abundance of sugar and treats! For most families it’s amazing and fun but for allergy families it can be a day of horror and anxiety. Yet it may look like a holiday that those with allergies cannot join but in reality it can be a great way to teach and learn and have special traditions.

One of the best ways to enjoy the holiday is having the Switch Witch come to your house! Now the Switch Witch is a special lady who turns all those unsafe candies and treats into anything that is safe for your family. Be it stuffed animals, building toys, or specially designed cookies!

Here is how to create your own Switch Witch in cookie form.

These are made with delicious sugar cookies and icing.

The icing is 1 cup Powdered Sugar with 1-3 TBSP safe non-dairy milk per color.

Once the icing is made you can mix in your colors and put them in piping bags. Do NOT cut the tips of the bag until you are ready to ice the cookies.

Any fun shape can be a witch but this six sided star I thought made it into a very fun and friendly witch.

Use black first for the mouth. I like to spread it a bit to dry faster.

Then create the face.

Next pipe the nose- a funny carrot shape and add hair on the sides. Make sure you keep a good border on the cookie edge so the icing doesn’t slide off.

Now pipe the eyes.

Remember to let the cookies dry thoroughly between each step!

Now finish with the eye pupils (a little dab will do) and the pointy hat with brim.

Let set for at least 3 hours and then enjoy!
